Dimension Data announces hosted services suite

Dimension Data has announced four new hosted IT services, with plans to extend this services suite with future offerings. The current services available cover the areas of messaging, backup, disaster recovery and storage. Dimension Data also offers an extensive range of customised hosted and outsourced IT services that are provided to clients based on specific requirements.

These new hosted services have been developed largely in response to growing client demand for cloud computing services, explains Keith Murray, Dimension Data’s Director – Managed Services.

“Organisations both large and small are increasingly looking to outsource their IT infrastructure – in part or in its entirety – to third party services providers. Supplementing our traditional managed services capabilities, Dimension Data is now able to provide both the infrastructure and its support to our clients as a service over the Internet or ‘in the cloud’,” says Mr Murray.

“Hosted and cloud-based services are a major growth area in the industry and we are dedicated to providing a flexible, scalable and mature range of industry-leading services to meet this growing client demand.”

The new Dimension Data hosted services are:

  • Hosted Exchange
  • Hosted Backup and Restore
  • Hosted Disaster Recovery
  • Hosted Cloud Storage

Dimension Data began developing its hosted services capabilities with its investment in Sydney-based IT services firm BlueFire in December 2008. At the time of the BlueFire investment, Dimension Data’s Australian CEO Steve Nola stated that it provided the company with a mechanism to go to market quickly with cloud-based service offerings.

“Dimension Data has been able to leverage BlueFire’s hosted services by integrating these as part of the IT outsourcing and managed services portfolio we take to our existing client base,” said Mr Nola.

This investment by Dimension Data in hosted services has recently been strengthened with the announcement of the operational merger of BlueFire with Netforce, another Sydney-based IT solutions provider, which has effectively doubled the size of BlueFire’s operations. The merger was made possible via a majority investment in Netforce by Dimension Data.
