Brocade appoints 20-year industry veteran to chart growth in service provider segment for Asia Pacific

Ravi Saxena Brings Industry, Executive Leadership from Cisco to Brocade

Brocade® (NASDAQ: BRCD) today announced Ravi Saxena as regional director for its Service Provider business in Asia Pacific (APAC). Saxena will be based in Singapore and will be responsible for driving the company’s service provider growth and market-penetration strategies throughout the region. Brocade offers a broad portfolio of high-performance, scalable, carrier-class networking solutions that meet the stringent requirements of the always-on service provider business environment.

The growth opportunities for Brocade in the APAC service provider market are significant. Industry research firm IDC predicts that service provider revenues in APAC for network infrastructure will be about $3 billion in 2011 growing to more than $4 billion by 2014.(1) APAC is one of the most vibrant markets in the world for service providers due to strong demand among its billions of residents and businesses for mobile phone, wireless, broadband, IPTV and triple play services.

Saxena will work closely with the regional field leadership, marketing and product management teams to devise and execute on a go-to-market strategy for this business segment. Saxena was most recently vice president of Service Provider Business Development with Cisco Systems India, where he led a team of worldwide resources in addressing large opportunities across the mobility, video and managed services segments in emerging markets, including India. Prior to this role, he served as vice president of SP at Cisco Systems India.

“Brocade is already enjoying strong SAN footprint within tier one telecommunications data centers across APAC. Ravi and his team will be instrumental in extending that footprint into the adjacent IP switching, routing and convergence spaces,” said Deb Dutta, vice president of Brocade Asia Pacific. “I am confident that Ravi’s 20 years industry experience will translate to even bigger growth as we continue to address the fast changing needs of this segment in the face of increased telecommunications and Internet service requirements.”

“The service provider segment is crucial for Brocade both globally and in APAC as part of our long-term growth strategy,” said Saxena. “I truly believe that our company’s unique value proposition for service providers, which is outlined through our Brocade One strategy, will help differentiate us in this competitive market place.”

Saxena holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering and an MBA from Delhi University, India.
