Tom Mazerski named Primus Australia Chief Executive Officer


PTGi (Primus Telecommunications Group, Incorporated) announced today that Tom Mazerski has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer of Primus Australia, effective immediately.  

Mazerski is currently PTGi’s President, US Retail and Network Services.  He joined the Group in November 2009 and is a seasoned telecommunications executive with more than 30 years of experience.  In addition to his role as CEO of Primus Australia, Mazerski will become Chief Marketing Officer for PTGi to ensure that its marketing, brand, products and services remain consistent across all of its business units.

Mazerski, who will be based in Primus Australia’s Melbourne headquarters, assumes his new duties today and will shortly be joined by his family.

"Having been involved in projects for Verizon in 1991-92 in Australia and being here now for several weeks, I know just what a special place this is. The people I have met have treated me with kindness and respect and I feel fortunate to be able to take-on this assignment,” Mazerski said. “The new Primus Australia will be an exciting place to work for our employees and our customers will begin to see positive changes right away. Soon we will launch our "Come Home to Primus" marketing program with our "No Worries" calling plans."

Prior to joining PTGi, Mazerski worked as a senior consultant to the CEO at RCN Corporation, where he reviewed and updated the company’s consumer marketing programs, including re-branding, acquisition, up-sell/retention programs, and created competitive cable pricing options. Previously, he had a 20 year career with Verizon, where he held numerous finance, operations, sales, marketing and network executive positions. After Verizon, Mazerski founded several new businesses including CloseCall America and Gateway Communications Services Company, Inc.

He, along with four other individuals, are the inventors of “System and method for secure web-based mobile phone parental controls”. He holds a Master’s degree in Economics from the University of Maryland and served on the adjunct faculty of Frederick Community College.
