 Primus Data Centre power upgrade completed successfully

Primus would like to advise that its Melbourne Data Centre power upgrade scheduled for Saturday 15th to Sunday 16th August 2009 has been successfully completed. The entire upgrade, which was planned over the last six months was achieved in a seamless manner.

During these works, power to the Data Centre was supplied by diesel generators. The diesel generators worked flawlessly throughout the weekend without operator intervention.

The works included the replacement of the CitiPower substation, which brings a number of benefits to Primus and its customers. These include:

  • Replacement of high voltage fuses with a new HV switchboard and circuit breakers
  • Increase in mains supply capacity and replacement of an HV transformer.

During these works, improvements to our customer communications procedures were also trialled, resulting in more frequent and open updates regarding the upgrade works.
