MELBOURNE – 16th November 2011: Primus Australia, a part of PTGi (Primus Telecommunications Group, Inc.)(NYSE: PTGi), today announced it is now on the Federal Government's Data Centre Facilities Panel, offering services from its Melbourne facilities.
“We fully support this significant Federal initiative and are excited to lend our expertise and resources in helping government agencies avoid costs and improve sustainability,” said Primus Australia’s CEO Tom Mazerski. "As a key point of interconnect and carrier services, our Melbourne facility is an integral cornerstone of the telecommunications and data sector and we are pleased to be able to extend our services and capabilities offering to the Federal Government."
The Data Centre Facilities Panel is part of the whole of the Australian Government’s Data Centre Strategy. It provides agencies with an improved means to procure data centre facilities and services. When agencies use the panel to lease a data centre they will reduce procurement costs, streamline contractual arrangements and standardise infrastructure policy.
"We believe being included on the panel reinforces Primus Australia’s long standing as a leader in the IT & Telecommunications sector, and demonstrates our commitment to ongoing sustainable and responsible facilities growth for cloud computing and data storage,” added Matthew Proctor, Primus Australia’s General Manager Data Centre & IT. “Our recent integration of 'green' initiatives, such as cold-aisle containment technology, provides a flexible and expandable capability for the Federal Government and other organisations.”
Primus Australia owns and operates Data Centre and telehousing facilities in Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, Perth and Brisbane, providing traditional collocation services as well as an enterprise-grade Cloud Computing platform. Primus' first Data Centre was opened in 2001 and has grown consistently to cater for customer and internal expansion. Significant upgrades were implemented in 2008, 2009 and more recently expansion of its Sydney capabilities in August 2011.
