Brocade (NASDAQ:BRCD) today announced the appointment of Ian Weston to the role of Federal Government Business Manager. In this Canberra-based role Ian will be responsible for extending the reach of Brocade’s Fabric Ethernet and Software Defined Networking solutions with its partner channel. Additionally he will manage key account relationships for Federal accounts already using Brocade Fabric Ethernet and its industry leading SAN solutions.
An industry veteran, Ian joins Brocade following a successful twenty year career in the Federal Government sector. Ian has held a variety of both vendor and in-house roles for computing, networking, security and defence, as well as business and communications systems. His expertise in strategy, business development and consistent performance was key to his hire.
“I am particularly looking forward to bringing my contacts and experience in the Federal sector to Brocade at such an innovative time in networking history. Brocade brings a compelling story to the table in helping organisations build networks that do more with less and I believe that the opportunities are extremely solid within the region,” said Weston.
For Brocade’s Country Manager for Australia and New Zealand, Greig Guy, the appointment of Ian highlights the company’s focus to meet the specific needs for the Federal government market. “Ian meets our detailed criterion for the experience, contacts and understanding of what it is that Federal government departments need and how to align Brocade solutions to their needs. The Federal space has always been key and we feel that Ian’s drive and initiative will suit Brocade, its partner channel and customers perfectly,” he said.
Brocade operates in Australia via a channel go-to market structure and partners with leading distributors and resellers to benefit mutual customers with innovative industry solutions. In Canberra partners include Fujitsu and Correct Communications.
