Fully Featured Nationwide Interconnected Network rolled out
Sydney, AUSTRALIA – 1 March 2018. Symbio Networks, a recognised industry leader in IP Voice communications and part of the MNF Group (ASX:MNF), today announces the go-live of its nationwide fully interconnected voice network in New Zealand.
The launch makes Symbio the only fully integrated voice network interconnecting both sides of the Tasman, according to Symbio CCO Jon Cleaver. “Others in the market who claim to have a trans-Tasman network have done so with a patchwork solution, using acquisitions or silo-builds operating on different platforms to bridge the gap,” he said. “Symbio built the New Zealand network from scratch using the same platforms so the two countries can operate as one network.”
The rollout enables Symbio to deliver New Zealand wholesalers its full suite of next generation voice services backed by API capability. This includes integrated billing, provisioning and network management - equipping new entrants to successfully enter the market.
Jet Interactive is one of the first customers to take advantage of the recently completed trans-Tasman network. “It was important for us to choose a provider with a focus on wholesale, with the flexibility to accommodate our specialised requirements,” said Director of Jet Interactive, Justin Graham. “Symbio Networks New Zealand has allowed Jet to export our call analytics and telecommunications services that have been so popular in Australia.”
Call collection and termination occur in New Zealand, and are billed in New Zealand dollars making it much easier to serve the local market. Yet existing customers can raise new international orders using the same familiar platform.
Symbio Networks New Zealand is a purely wholesale provider, something Business Development and Carrier Relations Manager, Steven Norman says is long overdue in the market. “Wholesalers in New Zealand are not getting a good deal. Carriers are paying lip service to the wholesale market in New Zealand; features are pared down as they are focused on their retail offering,” he said.
“We believe that Symbio’s expansion in New Zealand will drive healthy wholesale competition. Our solutions are modular and scalable, bringing enhanced innovation and product choice to the New Zealand wholesale market,” Steven Norman said.
Symbio will enable start-ups to get into the New Zealand market and grow quickly. It will provide everything around the network, freeing up small and medium wholesalers to concentrate on building their business and supporting their customers.
Points of presence are located in Auckland, Hamilton, Palmerston North, Wellington and Christchurch, enabling Symbio to provide a redundant interconnection with NZ telecommunications infrastructure companies Spark New Zealand, Vodafone, 2Degrees and Chorus.
Symbio has been delivering call termination and number hosting services in New Zealand since 2008. In April 2016 it made a significant expansion into the market purchasing New Zealand telco Spark’s international voice business, TNZI.
