Say Media Appoints Yun Yip to Open Melbourne Office

Former Telstra Advertising Network group sales manager expands Say Media’s growing Australian team to Victoria

Say Media, Inc. today announced the appointment of former Telstra Advertising Network (TAN) group sales manager Yun Yip as its first on-the-ground seller in Melbourne. Joining as an account director, Yun will be responsible for growing Say Media’s client base in Melbourne, supporting existing local clients, and setting up Say Media’s first Melbourne office in early 2013.

The Melbourne expansion follows Say Media’s strong growth in Australia in the past 12 months, on the back of major new digital advertising campaigns for brands such as American Express, Commonwealth Bank, Nike, Microsoft, Disney, Tourism Tasmania and Toni & Guy, among others. Headquartered in San Francisco, the venture marks the company’s first move beyond its Sydney base since entering the Australian market in May 2010 as Videoegg, before rebranding as Say Media in October 2010.

“Melbourne is the creative hub of Australia and we’ve long considered opening an office there, particularly as we already work with many great clients in Victoria,” says Duncan Arthur, general manager of Say Media Australia and New Zealand. “We’re thrilled to now have someone of Yun’s calibre to make this happen. Yun’s breadth of local contacts, her deep understanding of digital advertising and her reputation for delivering beyond client expectations will enable us to quickly build a broader client base in this region.”

Yun Yip added: “Say Media offers what marketers want: beautiful creative that works seamlessly across all three screens – desktop, mobile and tablet – to tell rich, layered stories so viewers experience a brand at their choice of digital destination. It’s a shift away from the old school approach of using digital advertising for efficient direct response towards seeing it as a powerful branding and awareness platform. Just as importantly, this is backed by a cost-per-engagement pricing model, so brands only ever pay for viewers that actively engage with their brand.”

At TAN, Yun has for the past two years provided digital media solutions for Telstra’s Bigpond, AFL, NRL and V8 sites, as well as multiple third party sites. Yun began her media planning career at Carat in 2003, before joining Starcom in 2005 as a senior planner working with brands such as AAMI, Bingle, Just Car Insurance and the Liberal Party.
