Layer 7 to Showcase New Suite of API Solutions at Gartner AADI Summit, Sydney

Open APIs key driver of growth for ANZ in 2013

Layer 7 Technologies, the leader in API management technology for mobile, cloud and open Web today announced it will be showcasing its API technology at Gartner AADI Sydney and at field events in Melbourne and Sydney. The API showcase will be led by Layer 7 Chief Architect Francois Lascelles and Lead API Architect Mike Amundson.

Layer 7 sees strong growth potential in the ANZ market in the next 18 months for API management as companies look to open up information assets to cloud services, mobile apps and outside communities of developers. Gartner anticipates that 75% of Fortune 1000 enterprises will open an API by 2014* in order to better connect with customers, suppliers and partners and Layer 7 believes that an increasing number of ANZ companies will follow suit.

“Companies who put themselves, and their data, at the centre of a developer eco-system are able to drive new reach, revenue and retention possibilities” said Colman McCaffery, Layer 7’s Regional Director, APAC. He continued “Early adopting organisations that have launched developer centric API economy initiatives are realising the significant potential growth and return on investment that they afford. We expect dynamic growth in the region as an effective API strategy becomes an increasingly essential part of enterprise technology over the next few years”.

Layer 7 has recently expanded its presence in the Asia-Pacific region with the appointment of Sydney based Regional Director, APAC, Colman McCaffery, who will be building out Layer 7’s APAC team over the course of 2012 to manage its aggressive growth plans.

During Gartner’s AADI, the company is demonstrating its new 2.1 version of its API Portal as well as showcasing its new Mobile Access Gateway. The Mobile Access Gateway was launched as the proliferation of smartphones and tablets in the workplace with emerging BYOD policies has created new challenges and opportunities for businesses. Layer 7’s new suites of Mobile Solutions make it possible for mobile developers to access the apps, services and data they need in a secure, scalable and manageable way. Benefits to the enterprise include:

  • The ability to help enterprises securely expose internal information assets to mobile applications and developers
  • Simplify advanced mobile operations in geofencing, websockets, notification cloud integration and support for outside social networks
  • Extend existing identity investments into more mobile friendly technologies like OAuth and Open ID connect
  • Help mobile developers consume enterprise APIs
